What documents are needed to apply for a Business Visa?

  • Documentation certifying that the applicant is an economic-commercial operator;
  • Documentation demonstrating why you need to travel to Italy for business; Addresses, names and specific reason.

  • 1 passport-sized photograph, taken within 6 months prior to the application;
  • the visa application form, duly completed and signed with original signature.

To obtain a visa for Italy for business (VSU), there are some characteristics that must be met, including:

  1. Reason for Travel: The primary reason for travel must be business or work related, such as attending business meetings, conferences or sales meetings.
  2. Applicant: the applicant must be an entrepreneur, a manager or a professional who intends to carry out commercial activities in Italy.
  3. Required Documentation: The applicant must submit all required documentation, such as a valid passport, visa application form, a letter of invitation from an Italian company, a statement from their company stating the purpose of the trip, health insurance and proof of financial availability.
  4. Length of stay: The maximum permitted stay is 90 days in any 180-day period.
  5. Compliance: The applicant must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Italy, including health and safety requirements.
  6. Intention to return: the applicant must demonstrate his/her intention to return to his/her country of origin at the end of his/her stay in Italy. This can be demonstrated by proof of stable employment in his/her country of origin, the presence of family members, real estate or other circumstances that link him/her to his/her country of origin.

How long does it take to get the visa?

The average time is 20 days but varies depending on the Italian Embassy to which the request is made, it is always better to request it at least 30 days before leaving for Italy.

  7. Lack of intention to return: if the applicant does not demonstrate his/her intention to return to his/her country of origin at the end of his/her stay in Italy, the visa may be denied.
