The VSU is a transit visa, which allows the holder to enter Italy for a limited period of time, generally not exceeding 90 days.
The visa is valid only for transit through Italian territory and not for staying or working in the country.
However, commercial vehicle drivers can apply for an extended transit visa if they need more time to complete their journey.
