- Coverage or reimbursement is provided for the medical/hospital/pharmaceutical expenses you have to bear during the trip due to a sudden illness or injury. Maximum coverage of Euro 30,000.00.
What is NOT covered?
Activities involving the use of mines, weapons and/or hazardous substances, access to mines, excavations and/or quarries and extractive activities on land and at sea; trips to engage in professional/extreme sports and to take part in competitions/contests/training sessions.
Under Assistance and Medical Expenses, claims caused by the following are excluded:
− chronic or pre-existing illnesses;
− illnesses related to pregnancy beyond the 26th week of gestation and to the puerperium;
− nervous and mental illnesses, organic brain syndromes, schizophrenic disorders, paranoid disorders, manic-depressive conditions;
− illnesses and injuries resulting from or arising out of the abuse of alcohol or psychotropic drugs, as well as the use of narcotics and hallucinogens;
− attempted suicide or suicide;
− injuries arising from the following activities: mountaineering involving rock climbing or access to glaciers, ski or water-ski jumping, the driving and use of bobsleds, kite-surfing; the driving and use of hang gliders and other types of ultralight aircraft, paragliders and similar, sports involving the use of motor vehicles or watercraft, air sports in general, acts of recklessness, the related trials and training, as well as all injuries suffered as a result of sporting activities carried out on a professional basis or in any case not on an amateur basis (including competitions, trials and training)
− car, motorcycle or powerboat racing and the related trials and training
− the removal and/or transplantation of organs;
− the correction of physical defects or congenital malformations and procedures of a cosmetic nature;
− your wilful misconduct;
− floods, inundations, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, atmospheric phenomena having the characteristics of natural disasters, phenomena involving the transmutation of the atomic nucleus, radiation caused by the artificial acceleration of atomic particles;
−wars, strikes, revolutions, riots or civil unrest, looting, acts of terrorism and vandalism.
− epidemics or pandemics as declared by the World Health Organization, with the exception of Covid-19
− indirect consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic/pandemic. The following are also excluded from Medical Expenses:
− all expenses incurred if you have not notified Europ Assistance of the hospitalisation or emergency-room treatment that has taken place;
− expenses for the treatment or correction of physical defects or congenital malformations, procedures of a cosmetic nature, supplementary nursing care during hospitalisation, physiotherapy, spa and weight-loss treatments, dental care (not due to injury);
− expenses for glasses, contact lenses, orthopaedic and/or prosthetic devices;
− expenses for transport or transfer to the place where you are staying.
Are there coverage limits?
INTERNATIONAL SANCTIONS (valid for all Coverages)
“International Sanctions” means the set of national and international provisions governing embargoes, sanctioned individuals and entities, the financing of terrorism, and trade restrictions adopted by: (i) the United Nations; (ii) the European Union; (iii) the United States of America, mainly through the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury; (iv) the United Kingdom; and (v) the national jurisdictions governing these Insurance Conditions.
Europ Assistance Italia S.p.A. is not required to provide any insurance coverage, to settle claims, or to provide the benefits or services described in the Insurance Conditions if doing so exposes it to any sanction, prohibition or restriction under United Nations resolutions or under the trade or economic sanctions, laws or regulations of the European Union, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, or the applicable national jurisdictions governing these Insurance Conditions.
This clause shall prevail over any clause to the contrary that may be contained in these Insurance Conditions.
The insurance coverage is not operative in the following countries: Syria, North Korea, Iran, Venezuela, Belarus and in Crimea

If you are a “United States Person” and you are in Cuba, in order to receive the assistance, indemnities/compensation provided for in the Policy, you must prove to Europ Assistance Italia S.p.A. that you are in Cuba in compliance with U.S. law. TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS
You are not covered if you travel to a country, region or geographical area to which the competent governmental authority in your country of residence, or in the destination or host country, has advised against travelling or, in any case, against residing, even temporarily
SUBSCRIPTION LIMITS
The insurance is valid for persons domiciled but not resident in Italy. However, for those who obtain residence in Italy during the term of the contract, the Insurance retains its validity until expiry.
AGE LIMITS (Valid only for policies with an annual term) The Insurance is valid for persons not over 70 years of age. However, for persons who reach that age (70 years) during the term of the contract, the coverage retains its validity until the expiry of the Policy.
For Assistance:
the benefits are not provided in those countries that are in a state of declared or de facto belligerence. Such countries are deemed to be those listed on the website http://www.exclusive-analysis.com/jccwatchlist.html that show a risk level equal to or greater than 4.0″.
For Medical Expenses, coverage is limited to:
– Euro 200.00 per day for hospital room and board;
– Euro 200.00 for urgent dental care;
– Euro 200.00 for prosthesis repair;
A deductible of 20% applies to the reimbursement of medical expenses, with a minimum of Euro 52.00 and a maximum of Euro 2,600.00.
