Did you try to bring a non-EU friend to Italy and they were denied a visa for Italy?
Often, almost always, a generic refusal is given, because the official at the Italian Embassy only has to fill in a form and tick some boxes.
What does the standard form say?
It contains 17 standard reasons for which a visa is denied; below is the information regarding the Visa Refusal Form

But be careful, there is an Italian Law on administrative proceedings, Law no. 241 of 1990, art. 3 (the Italian Administrative Procedure Act), which provides that every measure of the public administration must be reasoned. The reasoning must indicate the factual grounds and the legal reasons that determined the administration’s decision, in relation to the findings of the inquiry.
Therefore you must always request the specific reason that led the Embassy official to refuse the visa for Italy.
If one of the reasons for the visa refusal is an alert from the SIS database (Schengen Information System), you should contact a lawyer to find out which State issued the alert and for what reason it was made.
