17 reasons why a visa for Italy can be denied

1. You presented a false, counterfeit or altered travel document 

2. You did not provide justification regarding the purpose and conditions of the intended stay 

3. You did not demonstrate that you have sufficient means of subsistence, both for the intended duration of the stay and for the return to the country of origin or residence, or for transit to a third country in which your admission is guaranteed 

4. You did not demonstrate that you are able to lawfully acquire sufficient means of subsistence, both for the intended duration of the stay and for the return to the country of origin or residence, or for transit to a third country in which your admission is guaranteed 

5. You have already stayed for 90 days, during the current 180-day period, on the territory of the Member States on the basis of a uniform visa or a visa with limited territorial validity IT 7 IT 

6. an alert has been issued in the Schengen Information System (SIS) against you for the purpose of refusing entry by ……………… (indication of the Member State) 

7. your presence represents, according to one or more Member States, a threat to public order or internal security: …………………………… (indication of the Member State(s)) 

8. your presence represents, according to one or more Member States, a threat to public health as defined in Article 2, paragraph 19, of Regulation (EC) No 562/2006 (Schengen Borders Code): ………………..……. …..…… (indication of the Member State(s))

13. your intention to leave the territory of the Member States before the expiry of the visa cannot be established with certainty 

14. You did not provide sufficient proof that you were unable to apply for the visa in advance, justifying the submission of the visa application at the border 

15. You did not provide justification regarding the purpose and conditions of the intended airport transit 

16. You did not demonstrate that you hold adequate and valid travel medical insurance 

17. the revocation of the visa was requested by the holder themselves. 

But be careful, there is an Italian Law on administrative proceedings, Law no. 241 of 1990, art. 3 (the Italian Administrative Procedure Act),  which provides that every measure of the public administration must be reasoned. The reasoning must indicate the factual grounds and the legal reasons that determined the administration’s decision, in relation to the findings of the inquiry.

Therefore you must always request the specific reason that led the Embassy official to refuse the visa for Italy.
