Visa for Algeria: processing times
Once the necessary documentation has been gathered and prepared, the applicant must book an appointment at the Italian Embassy in Algeria to submit the visa application and hand over the required documentation. It is important to submit the application at least 15 days before the planned date of departure, but no earlier than three months.
When submitting the application, the applicant must pay the consular fee for the Schengen visa, which amounts to 80 euros for Algerian citizens (free for children under 6 years of age). The payment must be made in local currency (DZD) at the official exchange rate.
Decision-making process and visa issuance
After submitting the application and paying the fees, the Italian Embassy in Algeria will examine the application and the documentation submitted. The assessment process can take from 7 to 15 working days. In some cases, an interview with the applicant may be required to obtain further information.
If the application is approved, the Schengen visa will be affixed to the applicant’s passport. The validity of the visa varies depending on the length of the requested stay and can range from a minimum of 7 days up to a maximum of 90 days, with one or more entries.
